A day of two halves – sunrise and neighbourly drinks

24 April 2020

I’m writing this a day late due to a hangover from the ‘neighbourly drinks’ mentioned in the title. Its the first time I’ve been hungover in months and it is definitely not conducive to good copy writing. So I’ll keep this post short and sweet.

This morning we thought it was Anzac Day, so set our alarms bright and early to get up for sunrise, only to realise Anzac Day is in fact on the 25th. It is certainly not the first time over the past month that I’ve got confused by the date – sometimes I’m not even sure what day of the week it is at the moment.

Still, watching the sun rise over the ocean is a great way to start the day.

Another beautiful start to the day

It was a productive morning with a workout, swim and yoga all completed well before midday. So in theory, it should have been a productive day. Sadly, alcohol got in the way.

The plan was to have a couple of beers on the lawn then go for a stroll to the beach. However, this ended up as a couple of beers by ourselves on the lawn then half a dozen more beers, margaritas, watermelon margaritas and whisky with our neighbours.

Naughty neighbours

So there we have it. A day that started so promisingly, ended up in a bit of a drunken haze. It was fun though.

Ironically, the hangover also meant that we missed the actual Anzac Day sunrise this morning.
